Making Applesauce

1st, scout out your neighborhood for an abandoned apple tree. They are everywhere in my neck of the woods.

2nd, clean those free babies up.

 

 

Cut those apples up into quarters.  Leave the seeds, skins and stems.  Cut out the rotten wormy pieces.

 

Cook with a tiny amount of water until mushy.  Some apples are better for applesauce than others.  A mix of types makes for a tastier sauce.

 

Run the mushy apples through the food mill....

 

A close up.  See how these apples are brown compared to the store bought sauce.

 

Doll up in a bowl with sugar, cinnamon, and heavy cream!  Wow!!!!
